Two earn agriculture insurance designation

Lee Gleason, general manager for Elliott Insurance Management, and Michelle Tucker, account executive, have earned the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation.

The AFIS designation, the nation's only insurance designation on agricultural risks, is awarded to those who complete a highly specialized education program that focuses on training underwriters and agents on the complexities of the farm insurance industry. Participants must attend classes and then successfully complete three exams within five years to be recognized as AFIS designees.

The AFIS program was developed by Insurance Skills Center and the IBA West Agribusiness Committee so that insurance agents, customer service representatives and company underwriters can be rewarded for continuing their education and training in specialized farm and agribusiness risks. Through the AFIS program, Elliott Insurance Management staff will be able to keep up to date on such things as proper underwriting guidelines, coverage changes and restrictions.

A special ceremony for all who have recently completed the AFIS program will be held March 20 in Sacramento, Calif.
