Construction firm earns award for building design

Martin K. Eby Construction Company was presented with the Design Build Institute of America, Mid-America Chapter Merit Award on Oct. 11. Eby submitted the ICM office building, South Campus Phase I and II, Colwich, for the private sector projects under $15 million.

The project was recognized for its outstanding design-build procedure and integrated teamwork. The project was selected for the award because it exemplified the possibility of design build. The original project, a 16,000-square-foot, two-story building, was changed to a three-story, 24,000-square-foot structure. The additional square footage was requested two months into the project. Eby Construction stayed on budget and maintained the original delivery date.
